ZsaKharah Gardner-Lawery is a proud graduate of Middletown High School, where she excelled academically with a GPA of 89.33. A Bronx native and the youngest of six siblings, she grew up witnessing the joy that pets bring to families in her community—an experience that fueled her dream of becoming a veterinarian. Her passion for animal care is deeply rooted in a desire to improve access to veterinary services in underrepresented communities. Her ultimate goal is to transform veterinary medicine by making it more affordable, community-centered, and inclusive—especially for Black and brown communities historically underserved in healthcare.

In high school, ZsaKharah made her mark as a scholar, leader, and athlete. She served as a dedicated tutor, mentoring her peers and strengthening her communication skills. She also participated in numerous community service initiatives, including organizing food and coat drives for families in need. On the court and field, she played two years on the junior varsity basketball team before transitioning to varsity team manager, where she fostered team unity and support. She also excelled as a committed hurdler and sprinter on the varsity track team throughout all four years of high school—demonstrating her values of discipline, resilience, and perseverance.
ZsaKharah Gardner-Lawery embodies Black excellence, resilience, and purpose. As she begins her journey at Louisiana State University, she carries with her a powerful vision: to uplift communities, heal animals, and blaze a trail for other young Black women to follow.
